mold + glass blowing


tasked with creating a mold for glass blowing that embodies an action, the verb "grow" served as the foundation concept for this project. 
to convey growth, the mold features bamboo sticks arranged from shortest in the center to longest on the outside. 

the varied height and placements mimic bamboo’s spontaneous growth patterns, integrating biomimicry to reflect natural randomness and influence the mold’s aesthetic.


therefore the piece derives its shape from the bamboo mold. 
as the glass is blown inside the mold, it expands, revealing the imprint of the bamboo sticks. 

the vase is designed to sit at an angle, reinforcing the concept of randomness in nature.
